WHY THIS LEVY IS SO IMPORTANT:

One in four people suffer from mental illness and addiction. People recover from these diseases with treatment.

The state has severely cut financial support for Mental Health and Recovery services in each of the past three years. The Wayne/Holmes MHRB has reduced spending by nearly $2,000,000. Nine hundred and fifty people lost access to treatment during this time in Wayne and Holmes Counties.

There are planned reductions next year and state officials are suggesting further cuts this year due to the slow economy.

Due to the uncertainty in our economy, more people are seeking help for mental illness and addiction. The demand for services has been increasing dramatically.

Without a 1.5 mill 10 year levy, the Mental Health & Recovery system in this area will be operating at an unacceptable minimum and costing the public more in law enforcement, emergency and health care.

This is a life and death issue. The next cuts will eliminate services that protect the public's well being. Seven hundred more of your neighbors, family and friends in Wayne and Holmes Counties will lose access to these needed services.

With your support, citizens can feel assured that help will be there when they need it, now and in the future.
